Currently CEO and Artistic Director of the Be’er Sheva Theatre and the Director of the Goodman Acting School of the Negev, Shmulik has been a leader and pioneer in the arts for more than two decades. His many achievements include being a founder of the Acting School in Be’er Sheva, initiating theatre and cultural festivals throughout the Negev, establishing theatre groups in many communities such as Sderot and co–founding Be’er Sheva’s Fringe Theatre. All this is in addition to developing the Be’er Sheva Theatre into one of Israel's leading artistic centers! He is an active member of the Steering Committee of the Mandel Leadership Center in the Negev and the Negev Leaders Network ('Mashpi'em BaNegev').
In collaboration with Be’er Sheva’s Department of Education, one of Shmulik's latest initiatives is the establishment of the Center for Excellence in Theatre. In order to work in a coordinated manner to promote culture in the Negev, Shmulik created the forum for all directors of cultural institutions in the South. Together they bring a new agenda generating a change of culture in the Negev with government offices and local authorities. This model is now being replicated throughout the country.
Shmulik is currently working to establish a youth theatre in the Negev, as well as a theatre for and with people with special needs. Ha’aretz named Shmulik one of the top ten most influential people in Israeli theatre in 2013.
